SUMMARY:Cover Crop Demonstration at the Gatton Ag Tech Showcase
DESCRIPTION:About the live demonstration trial \nCover crops are a powerful tool for improving soil health\, managing weeds\, suppressing diseases\, and supporting farm productivity – but choosing the right species and knowing when (and how) to terminate them can make all the difference. \nJoin Soil Wealth ICP at the Gatton AgTech Showcase for a hands-on look at a range of cover crop species and mixes\, plus different termination techniques in action. We’ll discuss the benefits\, practical considerations\, and best-practice approaches to get the most out of cover crops in your farming system. \nWhat you’ll see and learn \n\nSpecies and mixes – pros and cons of different single species and mixed plantings\nBenefits of cover crops – soil health\, weed suppression\, and other on-farm advantages\nConsiderations – how climate\, soil type\, and rotation affect your choices\nTermination methods – comparing mechanical\, chemical\, and other approaches\nPractical insights – lessons learned from Soil Wealth ICP trials\n\nThe program is currently being finalised and will be shared in September. \nClick here to register for the Gatton AgTech Showcase.  \nMore information \nIf you would like to know more about the Soil Wealth ICP live cover crop demo\, please contact Sophia Thach\, Applied Horticultural Research\, 0413 937 313 or sophia.thach@ahr.com.au. \nAbout the Gatton AgTech Showcase \nThe second Gatton AgTech Showcase will bring together horticulture growers\, agribusinesses\, technology companies\, consultants\, students and researchers for a festival of technology and innovative ideas. \nThe first showcase\, held in November 2023\, was so successful that it won the 2024 VISY Industry Impact award at the Australian Horticulture Awards.
