The AHR team recently returned to Mulgowie’s demonstration site to complete the latest round of data collection as part of the long-running Soil Wealth ICP collaboration.
With support from the Mulgowie team, the visit included corn cob quality assessments, harvestable cob counts, ear leaf tissue sampling, biomass measurements and soil sampling to evaluate how different cover crop termination methods and nitrogen management strategies continue to influence crop performance and soil health over time.
The trial compares a range of post-cover crop management treatments, including forage harvest, rolling stalk chopping, mulching and fallow, each with and without nitrogen inputs, to better understand their long-term impacts on productivity and soil function.
This latest monitoring builds on years of collaborative research between the Soil Wealth ICP project and Mulgowie.
