Members of the Soil Wealth and ICP team were recently interviewed for the Potatoes Australia magazine. The key message? Many of the soil health and plant protection practices relevant to vegetables, also apply to potatoes and other horticulture industries.
This is particularly important when considering soil organic matter and structure due to the higher level of tillage of potato soils. Managing inputs in an integrated way, such as using cover crops and compost, combined with reduced tillage are all ways of improving soil and crop health using a ‘systems-based’ approach.
