New Zealand study tour – expressions of interest closing soon

Join the Soil Wealth ICP team for an inaugural international study tour to New Zealand’s North Island (Auckland, Pukekohe, Cambridge and Tauranga) from 25-31 August.

Expression of interest submissions will close at 12pm on Wednesday 7 August 12pm 

Over one week you will have the chance to:

  • Explore soil management and crop health innovations through engaging farm and site visits
  • Connect with international growers, agronomists and industry partners at the Horticulture Conference and RSE Conference, which will provide three days of industry-centric speakers and content, including visits to leading farm businesses
  • Advance your business with industry-leading practices, technology and R&D insights.

Highlights include:

NZ vegetable summit: an overview of vegetable production in New Zealand, the challenges faced, and what work is being done to combat this. 

AS Wilcox is a family-owned, 4th generation, vegetable growing business based in Pukekohe with a strong focus on sustainable practices and adopting innovation. Visit will include an overview of their practices and farm visits. 

LeaderBrand is a family-owned vegetable growing business that will provide an overview of their regenerative farming project looking at cover crops, compost, biodiversity, and enhancing the community. 

Plant and Food Research is a NZ govt-owned research institute that provides much of the research and scientific knowledge to the NZ vegetable industry. They will provide an overview of current innovative research projects. 

Greengrower is a vertical farming operation looking to grow vegetables more sustainably with less water, less electricity, and a focus on renewable energy sources. 

Hort NZ conference: NZ’s annual horticultural industry conference theme is growing together today, for tomorrow. Speakers range from across the industry. Includes a field trip and gala dinner.

The Soil Wealth ICP project will part fund travel, accommodation, conference registration and some meals, with an upfront fixed grower co-contribution to be confirmed. 

Soil Wealth ICP is funded by Hort Innovation using the vegetable and melon research and development levies with contributions from the Australian Government.
