With over a decade of involvement with the Soil Wealth ICP project, Schreurs & Sons has engaged with the levy-funded project through demonstration sites, webinars, fact sheets, masterclasses, industry events and peer discussions. What began as a search for practical ways to address declining soil condition and production challenges at their Cora Lynn property in Victoria has evolved into a long-term journey of experimentation, continuous improvement and adopting new practices across the business.
As the business expanded from Cora Lynn on the outskirts of Melbourne to Tarwin in South Gippsland, many of those learnings have helped shape the development of their new farming operation from the ground up. Along the way, Schreurs & Sons has progressively adopted practices including cover cropping, precision soil management, moisture monitoring, integrated pest management (IPM), biological approaches and minimum tillage.
Reflecting on more than 10 years of involvement with Soil Wealth ICP, Director of Field Operations Adam Schreurs said one of the project’s greatest strengths was creating confidence to test ideas, adapt practices and continue improving over time.
