Our Skye, Victoria demonstration site focuses on improving the health and structure of the farm’s sandy loam soils and smart nutrient management.

The first season’s demonstration trial in 2024 evaluated cover crops to increase nutrient cycling and improve nitrogen use efficiency.

The 2025 season’s demonstration trial was conducted to compare nutrient supply from a biodegradable polymer coated fertiliser used at two ‘best bet’ rates with the grower’s standard practice – a mineral compound fertiliser – in a coriander crop. The coated fertiliser was used because nutrients would be released evenly over time and better align crop nutrient supply with demand compared to a mineral fertiliser program. It was expected to improve nutrient use efficiency with minimal nutrient losses.

We share the findings and insights from the 2025 trial in this case study.
